Winter trend 2026: Green Harmony

Where plants transform the interior

As we move into early 2026, the home becomes a place of calm and balance. The need to slow down, breathe and truly unwind is growing. To meet that need, we invite nature indoors, both literally and emotionally. Plants step into the spotlight: the Christmas tree makes way for lush, living greenery.

Green thus becomes more than decoration and actively transforms the interior. Plants become part of the space, forming living sculptures of calm: Green Harmony. Think statement plants such as Alocasia ‘Regal Shields’ or Strelitzia nicolai, paired with smaller succulents and cascading plants that soften walls and cabinets with natural movement.

Vertical farming and indoor farming are also emerging as clear trends, with integrated herb planters and vertical vegetable gardens in living rooms and kitchens becoming a natural part of the interior.

Colour palette and materials

Say goodbye to the cold white-on-white interior. Within Green Harmony, everything revolves around warmth and personality. Soft grey tones and earthy colours form the base, complemented by accents of brick red, berry red and powder pink. Butter yellow and ochre-camel add light and softness.

The trend colour of the year, Transformative Teal, is a blue-green shade that feels cooling, calming and restorative. Teal adds depth to the interior and pairs effortlessly with natural materials such as terracotta, clay and recycled stone.

Our Trend Collection

Within Green Harmony, everything centres on calm, balance and greenery that truly becomes part of the interior. This trend shows how plants not only create atmosphere but also shape the space itself. The flowing growth of Cissus rhombifolia ‘Ellen Danica’ (oak-leaf ivy) adds movement and vertical accents, while Aspidistra elatior, with its strong and timeless character, represents simplicity and durability.

Soft colour tones return in the pink Cymbidium, a (cool-growing) orchid that adds refinement during the winter months. The novelty Phalaenopsis ‘Tina’ is a true eye-catcher, thanks to its compact shape, large flower, striking white lip and unique, delicate colour combination. Together, these plants form a collection that demonstrates how greenery can evolve from decoration into an integral part of the interior.

This selection is intended as inspiration. Naturally, many more plants fit within this trend. You can find them here.

Pia Klatt, on behalf of the Waterdrinker Trend Team:
“Green Harmony shows how greenery brings calm and balance into the home. Plants become part of the interior and help us slow down and reconnect with nature.”
